Ladybug's Amusement Park

Can ladybugs enjoy the amuzement park?

What you can learn from this activity: Look at behavior of lady bugs and surrounding environment by looking for larvae and adult of ladybugs. Make paths with wires and wood sticks so that ladybugs climb up. Experience enjoyment of thinking and observing through failures and successes.

When and where to do: Spring to Autumn. Field and Class room.

Procedure:

1. Ladybug quiz.

2. Let's go out to look for lasybugs. Once you find them, let's look them closely to understand where they live and what they do.

3. Let's make a "ladybug's amuzement park"!

4. Let's play with ladybugs. Can they enjoy the amuzement park?

5. Reflection.

Materials:

Prepared by participants: 2L PET bottle, scissors, knife, cello tape, color pencil, magnifying lens, water bottle, insect net, insect basket

With kids, we made ones with 500ml PET bottles.

Ladybugs quiz first. Then, we went out for catching ladybugs.

  

After coming back, start making "Ladybug`s Amuzement Park" with PET bottle.

  

Make paths of ladybugs with flexible wires.

  

Put the wires into the PET bottle. Place the lid and you are done!

  

Let's see if ladybugs climb the paths well. Add a balance.
